FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is life casting?
A: Life casting is a process used to create a three dimensional duplicate of a living body part. We use a material called Alginate to create the negative of the body part,  then plaster is poured into the negative to create the exact duplicate.  The results are spectacular.

Q: What material is used for the impression? Is is safe?
A: We use a material called Alginate. Alginate is made up from algae and seaweed. It is hypo-allergenic, natural, non-toxic and is safe for use on skin. Once the alginate has set the mould is then created and removed from the skin.

Q: What is the preferred age to have my baby or child's impression taken?
A It totally depends on when you want to capture the memory.  We can work on  anyone from newborns to the elderly, even your fur baby!  Whatever you choose.

Q: How do I make an appointment to have an impression done?
A: You can make an appointment by contacting us via email or phone.  The contact information is listed on the contact page of the website.

Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: As of right now we accept cash, cheque, or e-money transfer.

Q: Is there a fee for travelling to my home?
A: There may be a fee for travelling.  Please inquire to see if your location qualifies for free travelling.

Q: How long after my appointment will my order be ready?
A: You can expect your order to be ready anywhere from 3 - 8 weeks after your appointment.

Q: Is there anything I should do to prepare for my appointment?
A: Having a look at our website to view some of our examples is always helpful.  That way you know what you may want done when we get there.

If you are having a 3D life cast done, have the subjects nails trimmed.  We capture exquisite detail so anything you may not want in the cast should be manicured.

Be prepared to have to hold your baby for the impression.  Our material can get very messy depending on the cooperation of the subject.  The material is very difficult to remove from clothing, so dress yourself and your baby in clothes that you don't mind ruining.

If you are bottle feeding  your baby be prepared to feed them while we take the impression.  If feeding is not an option during the appointment it is best for your baby to have a full belly and ideally be sleepy.

Q:  Where will you be working in my home? Do I need to prepare a space for you to work?
A: It is easiest for us to work in a kitchen where we have access to water and a clear space.  If this is not an option let us know when booking and we can arrange for another area.

Q: I have an idea of something I would like done but I don't see it on your website?
A: We would love to try and fulfill and requests you may have.  Please don't hesitate to contact us to further discuss.
